Implementing Electronic Prescribing to Improve Care

The 2011 e-Prescribing Mandate went into effect on January 1, 2011: All providers, group purchasers, prescribers, and dispensers must establish and maintain an electronic prescription drug program that complies with applicable standards by January 2011 [Minnesota Statute 62J.497].

This Webinar will review the context of the e-prescribing (e-Rx) mandate and how the above mentioned organizations can be compliant with the law.

Objectives

Participants will:

  • Understand the law related to e-prescribing and how e-prescribing relates to meaningful use incentives
  • Discover answers to common questions about the e-Rx mandate and how the mandate fits into the big picture
  • Identify benefits for providers and consumers

Bob Johnson, MPP, e-health project manager and staff lead on Minnesota e-Health Privacy Legal and Policy Workgroup, Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). Bob wrote the MDH factsheet on e-Rx, fields calls on the topic for MDH and participated the e-Prescribing Workgroup.
